| Are you in favour of the new proposed Saturday Market | Site Editor General |
Just trying to gauge opinion regarding the new Saturday
Market. Personally I'm undecided as to whether this may
bring more people and hence trade to the area or whether it
will offer the same goods and services as we already have;
thus diluting what is a precariously thin trade for some
shops in the town. | Site Editor |
Given the delay with our indoor market development it will
be nice to have the option. However, It would have been
better as a Sunday market but we tried that and it didn't
work too well. I think those that already use our indoor
market stalls will probably stay loyal and the interest
that the Saturday market should generate might just
encourage more people to browse in the town. We can but
hope. | Pam |
No
How could this market help the town centre shops which
are struggling? It should be sited in Cheshire Street or
High Street, if anywhere, not outside the town. | Liz |
What concerns Me as a Business Owner in Market drayton is
That Our Councillors are not doing what they were elected
to do, Stand up for Market Drayton, I just keep being
told there is nothing that can be done to stop it, No
Fight No statement from the council No Hand up and say
sorry rate payers of Market drayton for allowing this to
happen. just lets see what happens in 12 months time and
review it then when another Half Dozen shops close!!! | Russell |
Looking at tonight Shropshire star looks like the Drayton
shops have got their way. The Saturday market is no more.
Well done.
I doubt it will change anything though. The problem with
all the shops is that they are running with a very small
margin and excessive overheads imposed by the councils. The
normal answer is to put up their prices this has the
opposite effect in that people by even less or go
elsewhere. Its a loose loose situation. The council really
need to wake up and assist these people | Mike |
